This Virtual Special Issue is devoted to papers from authors who made outstanding presentations at the 251st ACS National Meeting in San Diego, California. We asked session chairs and symposia organizers within divisions that align with I&EC Research’s subject areas to identify the best presentation from their session. These presenters were invited to submit a manuscript to be published in I&EC Research. Following rigorous peer review, each accepted paper is published with a note indicating that it was an invited contribution as a result of an outstanding presentation at the ACS San Diego meeting. The topics covered include synthesis of polymeric materials that offer sustainability advantages, electrochemical systems, CO2 capture, tissue engineering, nanomedicine, drug discovery, and fundamentals of catalysis that can find energy-related applications. I&EC Research is delighted to showcase these twenty papers and feature these authors.

ACS National Meetings are where chemistry professionals meet to share ideas and advance scientific and technical knowledge. By attracting thousands of chemical professionals, the meeting provides excellent opportunities for sharing your passion for chemistry, connecting with the world's largest scientific society, and advancing your career in this ever-changing global economy. The Meeting Abstracts Programming System (MAPS) is the online meeting programming system of the American Chemical Society, used by ACS authors, Program Chairs, and Symposium Organizers to submit, view, review, and edit abstracts for ACS National Meeting publications.
